ذكر منسق الأمم المتحدة الخاص لعملية السلام في الشرق الأوسط روبرت سري اليوم أن بناء المستوطنات سواء كانت على أراض فلسطينية خاصة أو في أماكن أخرى من الأرض الفلسطينية المحتلة يمثل انتهاكا للقانون الدولي.

جاء ذلك بعد أن أصدر رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، قرارا وفقا لوسائل الإعلام ، ببناء ثلاثمائة وحدة جديدة سكنية في مستوطنة بيت ايل.

وعبر سري في بيان له، اليوم عن قلقه البالغ إزاء بناء المستوطنات وجدد تحذيره من أن هذا قد يبطئ التقدم نحو تحقيق الحل القائم على أساس دولتين، بل قد يؤدي إلى التحرك نحو واقع دولة واحدة، ومن شأنه أن يعطل جهود دفع عملية السلام. من ناحية أخرى، أصدرت وحدة الرصد التابعة لوكالة إغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين (الأونروا) ومعهد الأبحاث التطبيقية بالقدس، اليوم النتائج الأولية لدراسة مشتركة توثق فيها تأثير جدار الفصل في الضفة الغربية على البيئة وسبل المعيشة في الريف واللاجئين الفلسطينيين المستضعفين.

وأشارت الدراسة، التي استهدفت أكثر من مئة وسبعين من المجتمعات المتأثرة بشكل مباشر بالجدار فضلا عن المزارعين الذين يملكون أرضا وراء الجدار، أشارت إلى الآثار السلبية لبناء الجدار على البيئة، حيث يؤدي إلى تدهور الأراضي والفيضانات الشديدة وتدمير مصادر المياه وتدهور إدارة النفايات.

وذكر مدير العمليات للأنروا فيليب سانشيز أن تلك الدراسة تدل مرة أخرى على أن الجدار له تأثير مدمر ليس فقط على سبل عيش اللاجئين الفلسطينيين ولكن أيضا على البيئة المحيطة. فتسعون بالمائة من الثروة الحيوانية المتنقلة تأثرت ببناء الجدار بسبب المراعي المحدودة، كما انخفضت أعداد الماشية لدى المجتمعات المحلية بمقدار ستين بالمائة.

New York, June 7 (Petra) - The United Nations Special Coordinator for the peace process in the Middle East Robert Serry today that the building of settlements, whether on private Palestinian land or elsewhere in the occupied Palestinian territory in violation of international law.

This came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a decision according to the media, to build three hundred new housing units in the settlement of Beit El.

And through a secret in a statement, today announced its grave concern about the building of settlements and renewed his warning that this may slow down the progress towards a solution based on two states, but may lead to a move towards the reality of a single state, and would hinder efforts to advance the peace process. On the other hand, issued a Monitoring Unit of the Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the Applied Research Institute Jerusalem, today announced the preliminary results of a joint study documenting the effect of the separation barrier in the West Bank on the environment and rural livelihoods and Palestinian refugees vulnerable.

The study, which targeted more than one hundred and seventy of the communities directly affected by the wall as well as farmers who owned land behind the wall, pointed to the negative effects of construction of the wall on the environment, as it leads to land degradation and severe flooding and destruction of water resources and the degradation of waste management.

The director of operations for UNRWA Philip Sanchez that this study shows once again that the wall has a devastating impact not only on the livelihoods of the Palestinian refugees, but also on the surrounding environment. Ninety percent of the mobile livestock affected by the construction of the wall because of the limited pastures, as decreased numbers of livestock in local communities by sixty percent.
